A Knightly Experience
Celebrating 20 years of its existence, JCI Malta was eager to host the 2014 JCI European Conference in Malta. The young and motivated organising committee welcomed the high level of responsibility it had to deliver an outstanding event for Europe.
Delivering a truly ‘Knightly Experience’
The main objective was to deliver a truly ‘Knightly Experience’ by high-level networking and exchange between all JCI members, through the training sessions and the social and entertainment programme which highlighted Malta’s gems.
An online registration system was set up and managed by On Site Malta in order to facilitate the reservation procedure for all participants across the globe. All bookings, including accommodation in various hotels, transfers, excursions and more could be reserved through the same webpage and payment was effected directly online.
The conference included seminars and training sessions with keynote speakers and various interactive workshops.
History meets music
The opening ceremony took place in the historic conference centre housed in the former hospital of the Knights of the Order of St John in Valletta where each nation was presented. Malta’s top singer Ira Losco gave a fantastic concert and the participants then moved into the adjacent hall where a DJ entertained them throughout the night.
The gala dinner was set up on the Granaries, an exclusive location just outside Valletta which is reserved for special concerts and events: Elton John, the famous Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja performed here and the Isle of MTV is held annually at this special location. A number of ancillary activities were organised throughout the event, including educational visits to related local companies, environmentally-sustainable activities and sport events.
